Abdominal Aesthetics (Abdominoplasty)

Abdominal Aesthetics (Abdominoplasty)
The abdominal region is the first affected area in both men and women, especially in weight gain. In women, sagging and cracks that occur after childbirth also cause serious deformation in the abdomen. Problems that may arise in the abdominal region are mainly related to the increased amount of adipose tissue and the skin that has lost its flexibility, sagging, and cracks. A patient may have only one of these factors, or both can be seen at the same time. Liposuction should be the appropriate treatment option for patients who do not have significant deformities in the abdominal skin and mainly have problem of increased subcutaneous adipose tissue. In the presence of sagging and cracked abdominal skin, tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) is the main treatment option. In these patients, there may be a need for liposuction in the surgery, depending on whether there is an excess of subcutaneous adipose tissue.

Abdominoplasty is basically divided into two. The first of these is the operation called mini abdominoplasty, which is applied in patients with more limited abdominal skin deformity and is applied with a shorter incision. The other is the operation called full abdominoplasty, in which all the abdominal tissue is shaped. In our country, the majority of patients who apply to us with the need for tummy tuck require a full tummy tuck operation.

Abdominoplasty is an operation performed under general anesthesia and takes approximately 3 hours. In the operation, an incision is made along the lower abdomen fold and hidden under the underwear at the end of the operation, and all the abdominal tissue is liberated up to the level of the ribs. Meanwhile, the belly button is preserved for reshaping. Liposuction is especially suitable for patients with fat accumulation that will require intervention in the lateral regions of the abdomen. Then, the abdominal muscles are sutured to each other in the midline for the treatment of rectus diastasis (abdominal muscles separating from each other and creating a flabby and weak abdominal wall), which is present in most patients. Deformed skin with cracks in the abdomen is removed and the navel is reshaped. The night after surgery, the patient should stay in the hospital for pain control and appropriate antibiotic therapy. In tummy tuck surgery, suturing the abdominal muscles in the midline is the essential element that must be applied, but makes the surgery somewhat painful unlike many other plastic surgery surgeries. However, with appropriate painkiller treatment and suggestions, the complaint of pain can be controlled. Most of the patients are discharged in the morning after the surgery.

In the postoperative period, patients are recommended to walk slightly forward and avoid heavy exercises related to the abdominal region for 7-10 days. After the second week, with gradually increasing exercises and appropriate diet, the abdominal region is 3-6. It makes the patient noticeably happy by getting an extremely good appearance in months.
